Story of my life.

BDS OVER MBBS

So how many of you are willing to pursue your career in dentistry?

Hello Beautiful Souls,

I am a dental student who have recently completed my first year and will be heading to my second year in coming days.
Enrolling myself into Dentistry is something I've never planned of...
In fact I came here "by chance and not by choice"
All the science students you meet are dreaming of that professional MBBS degree except a few of them and this was my case too.
Since childhood I was raised to become a doctor, My ambition was to become a doctor!!
Choosing science is what I love myself for.
So now I was all set to write my entrance (It was an entrance with lot of controversies, first they taught us for state level entrance and later at the peek time they got us all India level entrance called NEET),
After coming back from the test I was so happy and so confident of my results.
So I wrote an entrance which got me good marks but no free seat.
Despite of everyone being so sure, I couldn't get a free seat in any of the medical colleges.

I was devastated. I remember locking myself into the room, cry for hours in the darkness, I couldn't deal with that because I was so sure.
I was fed all my life that since I was a topper.. I was supposed to get into a govt. Med school.
My family started planning to get me a management seat in the top known medical colleges but I refused.
Then my father insisted and got me into a private DENTAL college (which was located in other state which means I need to stay away from home) and that's when it all started,
"losers go to private"
"score nahi aya na"
"bahar jaker padhogi ladki ho kar"
"ache marks aaye?? phir seat kyu nahi ayi"
"paise dekar padrahi hai"
"paise do Dr lagalo naam ke aage"
"Dentistry? AH! that"s so easy."
And what not...

But I've proved them wrong with my first class result in my first year of dentistry.
This was the moment defining my confidence in myself, this was the day I realized that PAISA can definitely buy you a private seat but it can't buy you a "FIRST CLASS" result.

The reason I am telling you this is because despite being an A star student I couldn't get that position at that time because it was not meant for me.
What Ive planned for my future was completely parallel to what destiny has planned for for me.
Now I am loving my profession to be.
I am all into it.
Dentistry means everything to me.
Dentistry is LIFE!!!

So remember this, private or government doesn't matter!! You know what matters??
The dedication you put in.
The med students or The dental students study the same books all over India, take the exams and are marked by the same boards.

Every institution is a worthy one and every field is respectful.
Doesn't matter if you're becoming a doctor or doing bachelors in arts- if you are dedicated to it you'll ace at life.
Be persistent. Take control. Invest yourself. Count your blessings and DON'T LET A SOCIETY'S STANDARD DEFINE YOU!

Failing a test, failing getting into a certain institute doesn't matter!
Failing at respecting yourself, loving yourself and your parents does.

XOXO!!
